✨ Quilter Spotlight: Yvonne Boyd ✨

Meet Yvonne O. Boyd, a quilter whose life beautifully weaves together service, family, history, and creativity. Celebrating her 90th birthday in January 2026, Yvonne is a devoted mother of five, a proud graduate of Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and a retired nurse who dedicated more than 40 years to caring for others.

Yvonne’s quilting journey began in childhood while visiting her grandparents in Columbus, Georgia, and Eufaula, Alabama, where she watched her grandmother and local women hand-stitch quilts during monthly gatherings. Though life carried her in other directions, that early spark was reignited years later with encouragement from friends and the unwavering support of her husband. After completing her first hand-stitched quilt, quilting became a lifelong passion.

After relocating to Georgia to be closer to family, Yvonne expanded into machine quilting, establishing treasured traditions—creating a quilt for every newborn in her family, crafting quilted bags for women, NFL-themed quilted pieces for the men, and lap quilts for nursing home residents. Each stitch reflects love, generosity, and purpose.

Her quilt, Her Hands, Our History, honors her deep passion for African American history, a love she proudly shares with her grandson through cultural exploration and storytelling. The piece stands as a tribute to heritage, memory, and the hands that carry history forward.
