In its Carnegie Hall debut, the Catalyst Quartet earned praise for its “invariably energetic and finely burnished” playing and “earthy vigor” (The New York Times).
The Quartet’s latest concert/recording series, UNCOVERED, showcases beautifully crafted works by composers historically overlooked due to their race or gender. “Most crucially, the Catalyst Quartet creates a palpable sense of fresh discovery, of musical joy in the process of bringing these neglected scores to life” (The Strad).
Principal clarinet of the New York Philharmonic, Anthony McGill is praised for the “trademark brilliance, penetrating sound and rich character” of his playing (The New York Times).
Pre-concert Talk
Pre-concert Talk one hour before performance at 2pm.
Clayton State music professor Dr.Kurt-Alexander Zeller gives engaging, insightful talks about the music, and often plays recorded excerpts of pieces in the program. These talks begin one hour prior to concert time for selected Strings and Vocal series concerts and are free for all ticket-holders.
