Honoring Black History with HBCU’s & Divine Nine
Step into a powerful celebration of legacy, leadership, and cultural pride during Honoring Black History with HBCUs & Divine Nine, a self-guided, immersive Black history experience in Clayton County, GA designed to resonate deeply with HBCU alumni, current students, Divine Nine members, and anyone passionate about Black history and storytelling. A free, continuous shuttle will loop through all four locations throughout the day, making it easy to enjoy the full experience.
Hosted by See Clayton County, GA, this FREE cultural tour invites visitors to explore four significant historic and artistic sites that honor Black excellence, resilience, and community impact:
- Hattie McDaniel Legacy Experience at the Road to Tara Museum – honoring the trailblazing actress and the legacy she left for Black artists and storytellers
- Jonesboro Rosenwald School – a preserved symbol of educational empowerment and community investment during segregation. Enjoy a one‑day showcase of the R&M African American Museum’s African American Doll Collection.
- Stitching Our Story: A Celebration of Black History Quilt Show – featuring quilts that serve as visual narratives of Black life, heritage, and tradition
- At Arts Clayton Gallery, visitors can experience Aunt Maddie’s Peoples, a solo exhibit by artist Marie Thomas.
